In 2015, Nollzon was founded as a non-profit organization by a swedish consortium of 5 entitys, Vattenfall, ABB, IBM, Sustainable innovation and Gröna bilister with the mission of monitoring, quantifying, and researching the environmental effects related to urban transportation. The initiative now has more than 1,500 Swedish member companies. These members aim to prioritize the utilization of electric taxis via the Nollzon webservice and sought comprehensive data on their environmental impact for sustainability reporting.

In 2022, in pursuit of an effective go-to-market strategy, the concept was restructured into a commercial entity. During 2023, the organization underwent further development and expanded its strategic objectives.
